Pastor Larry Williams - Youth Pastor
What is your passion regarding the Kingdom of God, the Church, our Church, your ministry?
"My passion for ministry would have to be first that people who are away from God to know his love, mercy, and grace. Secondly I have a passion to see young men and women find their place in the body of Christ. That some are the ear and some will be a eye. Whatever you are we can not be fully healthy as a body until we all find our "fit". My passion for my particular ministry is to see young people who are broken before God and changed for good forever."
What is your life verse and why?
"Ephesians 1:3-8 -Before I got saved I always felt like the odd man out. I never felt like I was part of any group. My youth pastor told me to start in Ephesians and I did. I was blown away when I realized that God had adopted me into his family and I was now his son. After that, there have been very few times when I felt udderly alone. Even during those times I realized who I am and who I belong to. I think that is why I am always adding people to my family. My home is always open for those who feel lost and without a family."
What was your salvation experience?
"I begged my youth pastor to allow me to go to rock conference the summer that I was going to 7th grade. While sitting in the back of the room God grabbed a hold of my heart. Weeping like a baby Diana Warnock walked up to me as I was fighting the urge to go to the front. She asked me why I was so angry and we prayed that I would forgive my father. Then she lead me through the prayer that opened my heart to God. It's been on and popping ever since."
Why did you get into ministry?
"I have worked prefessionally with Juvenile in the detention arena for 5 years as a detention officer and community service. Before that I worked in the youth ministry as a intern and a volunteer since 95. I have worked with every youth pastor at this church from Keith Watson to Jeremy Marrone, and feel a tremendous call to reach this generation."
When did you join NCC staff? How long have you been in NCC?
"I have been a part of NCC since 1990 when I was ten years old. I recently joined the NCC staff in the summer of 2009."
Who is in your immediate family?
"My lovely wife Emily, beautiful daughter Brea and handsome son to be Jackson."
Where is your favorite place to pray?
"Laying in front of my bed late at night. When everyone is asleep and I can hear the still quite voice of God."
